Ford's Q2 2024 Earnings: What to Expect
Based in Dearborn, Michigan, Ford Motor Company (F) is a global automotive industry leader renowned for manufacturing various vehicles, including cars, trucks, SUVs, and electric vehicles. With a market cap of $51.50 billion, Ford is recognized for its innovation, engineering excellence, and commitment to sustainability. The company serves individual consumers and commercial clients, providing a diverse portfolio of products and services. Ford is scheduled to announce its fiscal Q2 earnings results after the market closes on Wednesday, Jul. 24.
Ahead of the event, analysts expect F to report a profit of $0.62 per share, down 13.9% from $0.72 per share in the year-ago quarter. In the last four quarters, the company has surpassed Wall Street’s bottom-line estimates in three and missed on another occasion.
Its adjusted earnings of $0.49 per share for the last quarter surpassed the consensus estimate by 16.7%. Strong performance in the Ford Pro and Ford Credit segments aided the results despite declines in the Ford Blue and Ford Model E segments.
For fiscal 2024, analysts expect F to report EPS of $2.02, up marginally from $2.01 in fiscal 2023.
F stock is up 5.8% on a YTD basis, underperforming the broader S&P 500 Index's ($SPX) 16.9% gains. However, it has outperformed the Global X Autonomous & Electric Vehicles ETF’s (DRIV) 2% gains over the same time frame.
Ford's recent underperformance is due to intense competition and disappointing financial results, exacerbated by car recalls. However, on Apr. 24, shares of Ford Motor rose by 3% following positive reactions to its Q1 earnings report. Despite challenges in the combustion engine and electric vehicle sectors, Ford Pro's strong performance boosted investor enthusiasm.
The consensus opinion on F stock is optimistic, with an overall “Moderate Buy” rating. Out of 17 analysts covering the stock, seven advise a “Strong Buy” rating, eight suggest a “Hold” rating, and two suggest a “Strong Sell.”
The consensus rating is more bullish than three months ago when the stock had an overall “Hold” rating. F's average analyst price target is $14.07, indicating a potential upside of 9.1% from the current levels.
